Absolutely my most favorite thing in the entire world at the moment:
If you struggled with "Twin Peaks," you should probably not bother:

"My fellow Americans, haven't you had enough of this crap? I don't
mean the Bush administration, I mean all the administrations. Aren't
you tired of being administrated? Where has it gotten you?
"So please allow me the honor of following up being the first
African-American elected to the presidency with another historic
first: the first president to up and quit on day one because the whole
government is bullshit. Yeah, you heard me. I am not resigning, only
to have Biden take my place, I am quitting in hopes that you will
follow me by quitting too, and put an end to this entire played-out
government gag. As president, it would have been my duty to enforce
the government's laws. The thought of using coercion, force, and
violence to make people obey feels really icky to me, and I have too
much belief in inherent human dignity to hold myself above anyone and
allow my name to be attached to such a grand title."

I play this game every day with a particularly fast-handed fellow at
my work. It's easy and quick, which makes it ideal for an office.
While shaking hands, each person attempts to "short grab" the other --
to grab their fingers, rather than their full hand.

Today my timing was perfect to confirm something that I've suspected
for months. There is an employee of the business next door to my work
that drives a tiny little "Smart Car." I have several times suspected
it was the same "Smart Car" that lives about 5 blocks away from work.
Today, I was able to confirm that the driver of this car makes this
commute -- http://bit.ly/QR4B (Google map link) -- in the following
fashion -- http://bit.ly/EjRG (Google map link). Which means that what
would be a 0.3-mile walk of 5-6 minutes becomes a 0.5-mile drive of
... well, about 5-6 minutes.
Now, for this ONE curious thing I know about this person's life, there
are thousands of things about them I don't know. The driver appears to
be able-bodied, if a bit overweight (also an accurate description of
yours truly). That doesn't mean they don't drive to pick up a child
after work. That doesn't mean they don't have a perfectly good reason
to avoid walking 1584 feet.
It's just one of those "hmmm" things....

Whoda thunk that Idaho would inspire neighbor states to improve their
cycling laws? In Montana and Oregon, laws are being considered to
adapt the "Idaho-style" of handling bicycles at stop signs. In Idaho,
a cyclist may proceed, without stopping, through a stop sign (not
light) after slowing and confirming safe passage.

The "Cherokee Spokespeople Project" is an international art exhibit featuring hand-made and illustrated bicycle spoke cards with Cherokee words. The project is created by Swedish-Cherokee artist America Meredith, and aims to help preserve the Cherokee language. The exhibit, therefore, is comprised of all the bikes throughout the world displaying the cards. It's free to be a part of it! I've included photos of my cards below, which feature the Cherokee words for ">
To participate in the project, just send an stamped envelope to America (details on the website linked above) and she'll send two hand-made, laminated spoke cards, each with a Cherokee word and the translation in Roman characters (and an illustration of the word's meaning or object). After receiving your spokecards, if you send America documentation (photo or video) of the card on your bike featuring your city, you can request a hand-drawn spokecard with a word of your choosing.
Send off for your cards, and look out for other Cherokee cards as you're pedalling around. Huzzah!

I downloaded and am listening to Charles Manson's "The Summer of Hate:
The '67 Sessions." For the most part, it's moderately decent folksy
guitar work, but I have found a couple of the songs to be actually
quite catchy.
If you're interested, all his music is easily and readily available
for download online.

One of the best things in the whole world is the podcast "Skeptoid,"
available for free, including with fully transcribed episodes, here:

Brian Dunning is the writer, producer, host, and all-around genius,
and the whole thing is completely funded by donations and Dunning's
own pocketbook.
